You could shape some hardware cloth to make a custom basket to help lift them out of the silica.

Watching you wind cakes reminded me of when you talked about the cakes falling apart and I had an idea! I haven't tried this myself yet, but there is a first aid tubular net gauze product that might help to keep the yarn together after winding! If you just cut it long enough to cover the whole cake, theoretically it would keep it all together.

You can also use the liquid printer inks to add to alcohol. Also, if you make any alcohol ink with pigment, you can add a BB from a BB gun in the bottle. When you shake up the bottle, the BB helps mix the ink. Like how spray paint cans are made with the marble in them to mix up the paint.

I realize I'm a year late to this party, but another suggestion might be to mix it a bit, as they do in Petri effect tutorial videos I've seen. They often wait about an hour, and then give the resin one mix...mostly at the top of the resin, where all that colored alcohol ink is just sitting. Daniel Cooper does this. It certainly would help get those colors moving! AND... we've got to be careful and make sure we are using SINKER/ADVANCED/DEEP white (I've seen it go by all those names)! I was doing it with regular white alcohol ink and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't give me the effect I was going for... ALSO... Daniel also has a video on how to make your own sinker white! You might want to try that! 😉✌

Totally get the anxiety around waiting for the UPS driver however let me just say, my mom is a FedEx driver, and if you can get to know your local delivery drivers - DO IT!! Especially if you're shipping stuff as a small business!! Knowing your driver can make a huge difference in the sort of service you receive! If you get to know them and let them know what you do and what works for you, they can do their job better and you can have more peace of mind when you may have to leave things out to be picked up. Delivery drivers are out lugging insanely heavy packages all day every day and have to deal with a lot of angry people who yell at them for parking in front of their house or because they didn't drag that new 200 lbs couch all the way up the 10ft almost vertical driveway to their front door. Plus they really don't have time to stop for long conversations so you don't need to worry about becoming best friends with your driver lol. All I'm saying is that a little bit of kindness goes a long way!! Also tip around the holidays if you can!!!
